On the 26th of October the gradual transformation of Austrian TV from the common terrestrial antenna to digital TV commenced, with the first of households switching from antenna to digital receivers.
The new system requires a special receiver, available in stores since summer, called the DVB-T Box. The terrestrial signal will still be available for another four months after which ORF 1, ORF 2 and ATV+ will be available exclusively through digital TV.
