As is the annual Viennese tradition, Oct.4th  will be reserved again this year for those insomniacs among us with a passion for art and history during the Lange Nacht der Museen (The Long Night of Museums). A hop-on-hop-off bus service will take visitors to some of the more than 600 museums in Austria. From 6pm till 1am, one can hop from museum to museum with a single ticket (€13, €11 students, seniors). Free admission for children under 12. Tickets can be purchased in advance from the Museum Information Point at Heldenplatz or from any of the over 100 participating museums themselves. It’s good to pick up the brochure ahead as besides the City Walk there are 6 bus routes, an overwhelming embarrassment of riches. Be prepared:  It’s going to be a looong night…

Participating museums include: Wien museum Karlsplatz, MAK, Choco-vienna (chocolate museum with tasting), Esperanto Museum (imaginary languages, global languages (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings) and many dialects), Haus der Musik, Mozarthaus, Prunksaal der Nationalbibliothek, Staatsopermuseum, Sigmund Freud museum, Belvedere, Foltermuseum (torture museum), Schloss Schönbrunn, Hofburg (Empress Sissi and Lipizzaner museum, and, but not least, the Schnaps museum – for a night cap to end a busy evening.
