Trains on the U6 underground (U-Bahn) line will not stop at the Josefstädter Straße station between the start of Jul. until the end of Aug., the Wiener Linien announced in a Press Release in late Jun..

The U6 stop is situated in the center of the Gürtel area of night clubs, renovated and expanded over the last decade and now considered one of the liveliest club and live music scenes in the city, attracting both music aficionado and revelers from around the world.

However, the increased use along with the heavy automobile and train traffic has taken a toll on the Otto Wagner façade of the station. The refurbishment is a preparation for a general renovation that the Wiener Linien promised for the coming season.
