The Blue Bird Festival returns to Porgy & Bess from 21-24 Nov., for the first time ever as a four-day event, organised by the Vienna Songwriting Association. The first two days, presented in conjunction with the Viennale, compose a mini-festival "What a Constellation", celebrating the 15th anniversary of Montreal-based label Constellation. The two evenings feature a cacophony of jazz in all its forms, from quiet guitar sounds to orchestral post-rock. Eclectic Canadians Do Make Say Think headline on 21 Nov., and chamber-pop outfit Thee Silver Mt. Zion are the headline act on 22 Nov.
23 and 24 Nov. see a return to the usual Blue Bird format, featuring home-grown Austrian musicians and rising stars from abroad. Austrian alternative rockers Garish Headline on Friday, 23 Nov. and post-punk Robyn Hitchcock closes the festival with his first Austrian gig in 21 years.
Festival tickets are available for 4 days (€79), 2 days (€48) or a single day (€28).
