Now recognised as one of the best classical Austrian jazz bands, the Red Hot Pods were founded by the two young Viennese amateur jazz musicians Erwin Frassine and Harald Jirsa in the late ‘50s. Their name appropriately refers to Jelly Roll Morton’s legendary Red Hot Peppers.

Over the last 35 years, they’ve played at their regular Vienna hangout Jazzland with many prestigious jazz musicians, including Doc Cheatham, Randy Sandke, and Wild Bill Davidson. They opened Jazzland in March 1972, and now they once again open the new season after the legendary club’s summer break.
