Getting too comfortable

Tales of Everyday Life

Vienna Review
Apr 01, 2012

One of the things I find most interesting about Vienna is the profusion of drunks and their diffusion throughout all districts of the city… at all hours of the day. Most would abhor the prospect of crossing paths with some of these unsavoury ruffians. As a photographer I celebrate these opportunities. When I don’t have my camera, I kick myself.

That was the case today on Chimanistraße, a posh little residential street in the 19th. In front of me a distant figure was doing something unperceivable, but obviously obscene. He was leaning against a tree in the wide-open on a sidewalk. As I got closer it became shockingly clear what the bearded, longhaired metal-head was doing. He violently shook out the last few drops of vile metabolised booze into a sewer drain.

Maybe he thought he was being considerate.
