The largest ice-skating rink in Vienna opened 17 Nov. in front of Schloss Wilhelminenberg. Spanning 200m², Schloss Wilhelminenberg On Ice is also the highest ice rink in the city, situated on the Eastern slope of the Gallitzinberg in the 16th-District portion of the Wienerwald.
With the motto "Ice skating over the roofs of Vienna", views from the rink stretch over the entire city, offering a one-of-a-kind backdrop to your figure-eights. The elegant Schloss Wilhelminenberg is stunning, built in the early 20th century, with high facades, pillars and mansard roofs. The building is now a four-star hotel, a location for wedding parties and conferences, and on grounds that include a 120,000 m² park.
Bus 46B provides access to the castle from Ottakring U-Bahn station. The rink is open till 21:00, even on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays so you can take in the lights of nocturnal Vienna. The breath-taking view of St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Votivkirche and the Rathaus at night makes the trip worthwhile.
