Markovics reading with feast attached

Renowned Austrian actor Karl Markovics (The Counterfeiters) reads from Kaffeehaus literary legend Alfred Polgar, while top chef Christian Petz works wonders in the Holy Moly! kitchen in an evening of artistic and culinary finesse. Including various performances, a five-course dinner and raffle, all proceeds from the event go to the charity Global Family Charity Resort (GFCR), a humanitarian organisation which organises holidays for afflicted families. Admission per person: €130.

Kriminacht

Plenty of murders and good coffee – the crime novel night at the Viennese coffeehouse. For the eighth year in a row, crime novelists sit down in Viennese coffeehouses to read from their latest works. Fifty-four locations welcome national and international authors such as Eva Rossmann, Andreas Pittler and Stefan Slupetzky, as well as bestselling writers like Jussi Adler-Olsen, Arne Dahl and Daniel Woodrell. In addition to spine-chilling readings, Agatha Christie fans will also appreciate this year’s special dedication to the Queen of Crime. Some events require reservations. Move Your Ass & Your Pen Will Follow

Writing instructor and yoga teacher Eva Karel leads writers through an hour of relaxing yoga poses; they then can spend the next few hours transcribing the thoughts tumbling from their calmed minds. Drinks and light snacks are provided, along with plenty of blank paper to capture thoughts. Own yoga mat required. Loose clothing recommended; no prior yoga experience necessary. €25 for one session, or €100 for five. In German and English.
