Austro-techture turns 20

For its 20-year anniversary, the Architekturzentrum Wien (Az W) is exhibiting a substantial part of its vast collection for the first time, under the title "The gold of AzW". This exhibition includes design drawings, plans, sketchbooks, photographs and models, from important eras of Austrian architecture.

At its founding in 1993, the Centre aimed to present, discuss, publish and archive architecture. But today, the Az W is also a museum: collecting, preserving and researching the legacy of Austrian modernist architecture.

This event also plays a role in increasing public awareness of the Az W’s need for more space and financial support, since the institution is currently forced to limit itself to one exhibition per year.
