Burgtheater Keeps Popular Actor Meyerhoff
Feb 23, 2013
Popular Burgtheater star Joachim Meyerhoff will remain as part of the in-house ensemble for the rest of the 2012/2013 season.
The Burgtheater announced that he would be leaving Vienna to join the cast of the Hamburg Playhouse (Hamburger Schauspielhaus), beginning next season under director Karin Beier. However for now, his roles in multiple repertory productions at the Burgtheater will mean he won’t leave Vienna for good.
The German-born crowd favourite Meyerhoff is one of the busiest actors currently in the ensemble at the Burgtheater, appearing this season in Thomas Bernhard’s The Ignorant and the Maniac, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Arthur Schnitzler’s Professor Bernhardi, the title role in Robinson Crusoe, and Thomas Vintenberg’s The Commune (see "All Together Now: Well-Meaning Commune-ists" TVR Feb. 2012), for which he won the Viennese Nestroy Prize for best actor last year.
Meyerhoff has been performing at the Burgtheater since 2005.
On 3 Mar. at 20:00 at Akademietheater, Meyerhoff will present his book "Wann wird es endlich wieder so, wie es nie war" (When will it finally be back to the way it never was)
