Viennese agency MOSTLIKELY brings the animal world to light with a unique line of paper lamps called Donkey & Friends. Designed by Maik Perfahl and Wolfgang List, graduates of the Vienna University of Technology joined three colleagues to turn complex 3D computer models into illuminated works of art. The group has been recently written up on various international design websites and blogs.
Featured in Vienna Design Week 2012, the collection, Donkey & Friends includes a donkey, cat, owl, penguin, fox and a rabbit with more animals to be added. Each lamp is rendered on a 3D computer programme and then is translated onto a flat paper printout and sold to customers to build DIY lampshades. The design is meant to engage buyers by turning them into creators. With a bit of cutting, folding and gluing, the animal comes to life.
Customers can buy Donkey & Friends creations at the Etsy online store for €35. Donkey & Friends lamps can also be worn as masks for Fasching or Halloween.
