Körperwelten at the NHM

Vienna Review
Apr 16, 2013

Among the new developments at Vienna’s Natural History Museum, a new exhibition Body Worlds & the Cycle of Life opened on 13 March. A radical advancement on Gunther von Hagens’ previous shows, this exhibition focuses on what makes up the human body, and the changes it undergoes in stylised action and sport, disease, or various stages of ageing.

Using a revolutionary technique of tissue preservation dubbed "plastination" pioneered by von Hagens in 1977, The Body Worlds exhibit was first shown in Vienna in 1999. Since then, advances in technique have made possible improved quality and presentation.
