NYC Meets Vienna Design

Vienna Review
May 19, 2013

On 17 April, the Austrian Cultural Forum New York opened The Vienna Model, celebrating the architectural tradition of Red Vienna, creating public housing for the Viennese between 1925 and 1934. The socialist government began funding the construction of Gemeindebauten: small, affordable living spaces, within an integrated infrastructure.

Also in New York, Koloman Moser:

Designing Modern Vienna 1897-1907 opens on 23 May at Neue Galerie, presenting works by the groundbreaking poster child of the Wiener Secession movement.

It’s the first American museum retrospective devoted entirely to Koloman Moser. Curators predict it will shed light on an artist often overshadowed by his contemporaries.
