The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra announced on 14 February that it would perform a short run of North American concerts in Toronto and New York, taking place in late February and early March.
Austrian maestro Franz Welser-Möst leads the assembly, with the first tour stop being 27 February at Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall. Afterwards, it’s across the border to perform three shows on 1 - 3 March at New York’s Carnegie Hall, dubbed "Vienna Philharmonic Week in New York".
The programme differs each night, and includes Franz Schubert’s Symphony No. 6 and selections from Richard Strauss, Antonin Dvorak, Jörg Widmann, Alban Berg, and Anton Bruckner.
The orchestra performed several concerts in Vienna and Graz in February, followed by stops in Germany; in Frankfurt, Cologne, and Baden-Baden.
