Taking a page from the recently co-hosted European Football Championships, Poland and Slovakia are expected to jointly bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
The presidents of both countries expressed support for the idea, dividing the estimated €1.5 billion cost of the event. The shared border along the High Tatras would play host to the downhill events while the indoor sports would be split between the two nations.
Oslo, Sarajevo and Barcelona have also been floated as potential candidate cities. The application deadline is later this year, with the winner being chosen in Summer 2015. Slovakia was unsuccessful in its bid to host the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games.
