The Rabenhof Theater and radio station FM4 sound the annual call for the Protest Song Contest, providing musicians with an outlet for their views. Participants submit new compositions as well as covers, but lyrics must be original.
A jury selected 25 finalists to compete in the contest. On 12 February, the top 10 entries will be performed at the Rabenhof and broadcast live on FM4. Competing participants include Benedikta Manzano, Johnny V-Ausschnitt, Linksabbiega, residents of the Vienna Refugee Camp, and Tiefsinntaucher, among others. The winner is decided by a panel of musicians, journalists and political activists.
The contest is being held for the ninth time. It first took place on the 70th anniversary of the 12th-of-February riots.
