Austrian’s biggest concerns are their childrens’ futures and the future of their pension, according to an online survey by market, the research institute in Linz. Of the 500 people questioned, 65% worry about whether their children have opportunities for success, and 61% are worried about the security of their pensions.

The questionnaire was conducted in early September, and the results were compared to the same survey sent out in 2008.

Concerns about potential environmental catastrophes caused by nuclear power plants in neighbouring countries, have risen from 31% to 54%. Over half of participants are troubled about the permanence of the country’s prosperity and reducing environmental pollution. Worries have reduced in some areas, namely Turkey joining the EU (from 36% to 26%) and the influx of immigrant workers (from 37% to 27%).
