Vienna öffi prices rise

Vienna Review
Jun 13, 2013

On 1 July, public transportation will become more expensive for single ticket buyers. The umbrella organisation, VOR, (Transportation Network for the Eastern Region), will charge city dwellers €2.10 for a single-ride-ticket instead of €2. The Jahreskarte (annual permit), student tickets and Top-Jugendticket (youth discounts) and fares for seniors will remain at the current prices.

The half-price Short-Route tickets, for tram and underground journeys up to 2 stops, will disappear completely. According to the Wiener Linien, these weren not used often enough and often caused frequent misunderstandings.

Tickets bought before 1 July remain valid.
