Michael Schottenberg, the director of the Volkstheater, announced that he will not renew his contract after its expiration in August 2015. By then, he will have been the director for ten years,  "an adequate and good timespan to realise fundamental artistic goals", the 61-year-old actor, film director and screenwriter said. He stressed that he has established the Volkstheater as the city theatre. In his remaining time as director, he will, among others, stage Glorious!, scheduled to have its Austrian premiere on 29 September. As for now, everything is still open for his last season, but the 125th anniversary of the Volkstheater will be celebrated on a grand scale in September 2014.
