In 1907, Johann Strauss' masterpiece was heard for the first time at the Volksoper. The conductor of the first production was none other than Alexander Zemlinsky. The current production was originally staged by Robert Herzl and is now being re-staged by Carsten Süss. The frog has recently become female.
