The show takes us to the metropolis of Tenochtitlán at the time when the conquistadors advanced there in 1519. The culture, religion and society of the pre-Hispanic empire are brought to life with many international loans. Among the 200 objects are an impressive statue of the God of the Dead, figures made of jade, obsidian sacrificial knives or ball game props. The legendary feather headdress remains in its special display case in the permanent collection.
