Just in time, the lonely provincial Adam prevents the unknown Eve from taking her own life in a pond. He takes her to the vending machine buffet, a restaurant run by his wife, where food, drinks and even music can be ordered at the touch of a button. Under the strict care of Mrs. Adam, the dignitaries of the city meet here. In the spirit of a rediscovery of female playwrights of the early 20th century, this drama (already discovered under Hans Gratzer in the Theater an der Josefstadt) is brought to the stage with star cast. An excellent idea, especially if the production succeeds as harmoniously as that of Barbara Frey. She adds a truly Swiss magic to the folk play. This means slowness to the point of comedy, eccentric figures who miraculously understand each other across language barriers, and a celebration of melancholy.
