For American filmmakers, the Nazis were a found food. The first was Chaplin and was immediately doubly hostile to his film: once as leader Adenoid Hynkel, and once as a small Jewish hairdresser. "Doppelganger", a German invention of the early years in cinema, from then on also influenced Hollywood's anti-Nazi film.
