When Milla invites the "wild dog", as she calls Moses, to dinner for the first time, dad and mum are not very enthusiastic, but they are liberal and cool with him. A cancer-stricken daughter is sure to get away with more. And: The good-for-nothing is good for her. At first still quirky and funny (but no comedy), Shannon Murphy's film gradually turns into a tragedy. Scenes are often abruptly cut off, with days and weeks passing unmarked in between as Milla's condition increasingly deteriorates. Misery porn doesn't come out of this, but two finely staged hours. A real tearjerker with a great cast and soundtrack. (David Auer) [Amazon]
