"It had nothing to do with a thing to be used, consumed and thrown away," says this documentary about Belgian fashion designer Martin Margiela. In the late 1980s, he had models walking down the runway in dresses with the seams turned inside out, in pieces reassembled from vintage clothes - against the glamour of the time, against blind consumerism. From the end of the 1990s, Maison Martin Margiela also exhibited in museums. The focus here is on the "we", the collaborators of the phantom designer, of whom only decades-old photos exist and who also does not appear in the film. They tell his story.
